Chicken Tikka Masala

Ingredients #

Chicken marinade #

  • 4 large chicken breasts cut into bite size pieces
  • 1.5 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/4 cup yogurt
  • 3 tsp ginger powder
  • 1.5 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1.5 tbsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp. oil

Sauce #

  • 1 tbsp. oil
  • 3 tsp ginger root
  • 7-8 garlic cloves
  • 2 large onions
  • 2 tbsp. tomato paste
  • 4 cans (13.6 Oz each) diced tomatoes
  • 4 tbsp. garam masala
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1-2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • cilantro for garnish

Preparation #

  1. Cut chicken in bite size pieces and marinade it overnight

  2. Cook the chicken (make sure not to overcook it)

  3. Sautee onions in a pot with oil, garlic and ginger in a pot

  4. Once the onions are cooked, add in tomato paste and cook for 2 mins

  5. Add all the diced tomatoes and spices and simmer for 35 mins

  6. Add chicken, heavy cream and cilantro to the sauce

  7. Serve it with naan or basmati rice
